Two more screen prints of mine are slowly becoming a reality. I've been experimenting with one color patterns with half tones and soft, light backgrounds. These are creating some amazing shapes that remind me of Gothic architecture and/or x-rays. It will be exciting to begin the screen printing process and see the final result.
Another exciting event in the studio is a collaboration with local legend Andrew Au! I finally got to print my Bones design on a copper plate to get things ready for the etching project. The copper plate will then be etched at and then printed at FUSE etching studio. Needless to say, I am really excited to see the end result of this process. All of this has inspired me to think about exploring the etching process in future works of art. And after watching Matt Kish on Facebook with his prolific drawings I've been thinking of adding line drawings on top of some of my recent screen prints. It initiated in me a real urge to start drawing again. It's always a good thing when the creative processes start flowing and the possibilities of new works of art seem exciting. This blog will offer a look into my own personal art studio. I hope it will shed some light onto what's going on behind my creative process as I share with you my adventures in screen printing, casting, installations, and a variety of mixed media projects, as well as collaborations with other artists. I also hope it helps me motivate to do more artwork in my studio, and provides an outlet to talk more about my work, like a written sketchbook. The blog will grow in time, but for right now I plan to get a post out every two weeks just to keep you informed about what's happening in the studio. I might also discuss work that inspires me or artists that influence me, as well as provide links to shows I find interesting. So stay tuned!
